Consultation Fees

The Australian Psychological Association recommended rate for Psychology in 2024-2025 is $ 311 for a 50-minute psychology session with an initial assessment fee of $ 451 for an 80-minute session while the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) recommends a fee of $289 per hour for individual and family sessions. At Real Path Health and Wellbeing, we aim to make therapy and support services as accessible as possible by as we charge less than the recommended APA and AASW rates.

You may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 therapy sessions per calendar year under the Better Access to Mental Health initiative. To claim these rebates, you’ll need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician. Current rebate amounts are:

  • $85.20 per session with a Mental Health Social Worker.
  • $96.65 per session with a Registered Psychologist.
  • $141.85 per session with a Clinical Psychologist.

 

Initial Psychology and Counselling Consultation Fees

Our initial consultations are 80 minutes in length, allowing time for a thorough assessment and to determine the most suitable course of therapy for your individual needs.

Initial Session Fees

  • Provisional Psychologist / Counsellor: $170 (no Medicare rebate available; payment by debit or credit card).
  • Mental Health Social Worker: $245* – Clients with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) can claim a Medicare rebate of $85.20.
  • Registered Psychologist: $270* – Clients with an MHCP can claim a Medicare rebate of $96.65.
  • Clinical Psychologist: $320* – Clients with an MHCP can claim a Medicare rebate of $141.85.
  • *Additional out-of-pocket costs will depend on the Medicare rebate applicable to your session type.

Subsequent psychology / social work or counselling  consultation Fees

A subsequent consultation is 50  minutes long. During these appointments, you will be guided and engaged through evidence-based therapeutic approaches designed to help you achieve your mental health and life goals.
Couples Therapy
Couples therapy is not subsidised by Australia’s Better Access Scheme and therefore does not attract a Medicare rebate.

Psychological Assessment and Reporting

The cost of psychometric assessments varies depending on the type and number of assessments required, as well as the time needed for report preparation. For example, an ADHD assessment typically involves one psychometric assessment along with take-home questionnaires, whereas assessments for ASD or intellectual concerns may require two or more psychometric assessments in addition to questionnaires.

Payment Terms:

  • A $500 deposit is required at the time of booking.
  • The full balance must be paid prior to the first session.
    Any additional charges incurred during the first session must be settled before the second session.
  • Reports will only be released once full payment has been received.

As a general guide, our fees are as follows (all inclusive of GST):

  • psychometric assessment (e.g., WISC) + take-home questionnaires + comprehensive report = $2,145
  • psychometric assessments (e.g., WISC & WIAT) + take-home questionnaires + comprehensive report = $2,860
  • psychometric assessments (e.g., WISC, WIAT & ADOS) + take-home questionnaires + comprehensive report = $3,575
  • psychometric assessments (e.g., WISC, WIAT, ADOS & WMS) + take-home questionnaires + comprehensive report = $4,290

What is the Cost of NDIS Psychology Services?

At Real Path Health and Wellbeings Health and Wellbeing, we are committed to providing affordable and accessible and inclusive services for NDIS clients.

  • $200 per hour session with a provisional or registered social worker.
  • $240 per hour session with a provisional or registered psychologist.

We offer individual therapy (face-to-face or via telehealth), psychological assessments, and reporting. Paying for services is simple. We can invoice you directly via email or send the invoice to your plan manager for payment.

Who Provides Our NDIS Psychological Services?

Our NDIS services are delivered by skilled provisional psychologists, registered psychologists, counsellors, and social workers. All are accredited with professional bodies such as AHPRA, AASW, ACA, or PACFA.
This professional screening ensures high-quality, evidence-based mental health care at a reasonable price. You can see a clinician regularly, maintain progress towards your mental health goals, and support your long-term wellbeing.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur the full session fee. If exceptional circumstances result in an unexpected cancellation, please contact the practice.
  • Cancellations with 24–48 hours’ notice will incur 50% of the session fee. If exceptional circumstances apply, please contact the practice.
  • No cancellation fee will be charged if more than 48 hours’ notice is provided when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.
  • Please note: All fees and rebates are subject to change.

  • For consultations booked after 5.00 pm (evenings) or on Saturdays, an additional $25 administration fee applies to the initial and any subsequent sessions.
